This month we are taking a break from our normal tip to offer a bit of reflection on the activity of the past year. As with nearly any business, it is compelling to see what services other business-to-business companies are using, especially given the current economic situation.

What was hot in 2009 (when the economy was not)
A reflection of what our client base asked for during the year

In a year where most have seen a business downturn, Creative Design Resources has had the fortune of steady business. For this, I must stop a moment and thank you for being a part of our success in 2009.  The majority of our projects come from wonderful long-standing clients and their referrals.  We would be lost without them. During the year, we saw a significant rise in two services: new business corporate branding and website redesign/restructuring.

New companies are popping up everywhere as a laid off workforce struggles to take control of their own future.  Outsourcing is on the rise, and these knowledgeable, one or two person start-ups are filling that niche. We believe our clients will have a better chance of surviving the coming years as each thought to pull together a cohesive brand identity from the start.

The website redesigns we saw this year focused more on information than design. Clients have realized that regardless of aesthetics, if their website does not relay useful information to visitors, it doesn't produce the leads or sales which are the sole purpose of business-to-business websites. This year website content review and organization has been key for many clients.

So, what is in store for you and your business in 2010?  If your company has a corporate strategic marketing plan, you should already know the answer. If you don't already have one, this is the very best place to start your list of 2010 corporate resolutions. (More on that in January's Tip of the Month.)

In 2010, we anticipate:
continued website content evaluations/restructuring
new business proposal writing/layout
writing/design of marketing tools for new business development activity
As with anything, only time can tell. Best of luck to you and your business in 2010! We look forward to working with you in the coming year.
